Massive Attack - The Spoils ft. Hope Sandoval

Lisa Purse mentions the 'Frankenstein myth', the fear of human nuances replaced by digital constructs. Her counterargument in the article is motion capture, but I find this Massive Attack music video another appropriate example to how an actor's face can be digitally reconstructed and not be lost in the process. In the clip, Cate Blanchett becomes more and more unrecognizable through the various digitally created sculptures and shapes, but we do not seize to believe that essentially we're still seeing Cate Blanchett under the surface. The first few shots establish her as the subject, serving as a reminder of whom we're watching, and helps us recognize her even in the nearly faceless rocks in the final two minutes.>
