Setting the mood in the opening scene: Incendies

Denis Villeneuve's Incendies begins with this scene preparing the film's Middle-Eastern setting and depicting young boys getting armed. No speech occurs, the introduction is moody and alienating. The choice of Radiohead's "You And Whose Army" enhances this eerie atmosphere, especially as the camera zeroes in on one boy staring back at the audience with hatred and the song progresses to the cathartic chorus, "We ride tonight / Ghost horses".
